Soon to be released on Rob’s House records is, what I believe to be, the first US single for France’s Sonic Chicken 4. These guys play a style of rock and roll that seems to be a sound I only hear with modern European bands. It seems to be heavily influenced by 60’s nuggets and rock and roll “boy bands” from that era. The guitars are brash, the vocals are dirty and there are lots of gritty background vocals from the supporting band members. The closest thing we have here in the US is the Black Lips. Long story short, if you like the Black Lips, you will probably like Sonic Chicken 4. Rob’s House does not have a release date just yet for this new single but with only 100 being pressed on red vinyl, I wanted to get the word out sooner then later. The remaining 500 copies will be on black vinyl. Sonic Chicken 4 also has the 2 songs that will be on this 7 inch, Toe Man and Midnight Girl, currently playing on their Myspace page music player so you can check it out and decide if this is something you want to own. Keep a lookout on the Rob’s House website for ordering information that should be posted soon. If you do not want to wait to pick up some of this bands releases In The Red released their debut LP for those of us here in the states and that can still be purchased from the ITR store or from Insound if you want to shop around for more stuff.
