Southern California brings us another great psychedelic LP, this time from Magic Lantern. If your already a fan of more familiar bands such as Acid Mothers Temple or Wooden Shjips this will be worth checking out. If you picked up the Sun Araw LP I talked about a few weeks back and liked that then this will be a must. This is a sonic journey I wont even begin to try and put into words. It’s spaced out, layered, filled with all sorts of guitar licks and excellent organ work. You can currently listen to one track on their myspace page and WFMU’s Beware of the Blog has a great article on the West Coast scene which includes a MP3 of another of the albums tracks titled “Feasting on Energy”. If your ready you can pick up the LP directly from Not Not Fun for $14 or from Insound for $18 if NNF sells out sooner. The LP is limited to 500 copies and is pressed on black wax. Included in the LP is a full color 11×17 poster. NNF doesn’t really do re-presses and everything sells out so don’t wait too long!
