Wooden Shjips - Summer Of Love 7″ (SOL ‘07)

September 11th, 2007 · 1 Comment

Artist: Wooden Shjips
Title: Summer of Love ‘07
Format: 7″
Label: A Sick Thirst / Holy Mountain
Catalog #: ST-02
Pressed: 500 (red vinyl) 500 (blue vinyl 2nd pressing)

This month marks the release of San Francisco’s Wooden Shjips debut full length which was just released on Holy Mountain. The first 2,000 copies of that CD will net you a bonus disc with all the songs of the very limited vinyl releases of 2006. What is flying slightly under the radar is the 7″ single they released in conjunction with Holy Mountain. This 7″ contains one song split over both sides and is titled Summer of Love ‘07, in memory of the 40th anniversary of that summer. The first pressing of this single is done in red wax and limited to 500 copies. All proceeds from this will go to Food Not Bombs which is a great San Fran based charity. Its nice to see a band not only give away their first single but continue to give back to the community with subsequent releases. You can pick up this release for about $6 bucks from
Aquarius Records. Be sure to grab the full length as well, or wait until the LP is released early next month.

Love this record. Seems to be the one really gaining them some attention as well, despite the 10″ of ‘Shrinking moon for you’ being one of the greatest pieces of music to be released this decade. However, that 10″ was so hard to find when it was available and this has at least made it over to the UK - got a copy from Volcanictongue.com.

Great to see you covering it and helping to get their name out there.
