Douglas Armour is an LA Based songwriter and is the feature artist for The Social Registrys singles club, The Social Club, fourth release. Little is known about this new face in the music scene. The story goes something like this. David makes a song called Prince of Wands. Some DJs pick it up in NYC, Social Registry is hooked and this 7″ comes out. Right now this guy has a myspace page and a personal page under construction and that appears to be it. A debut album is expected in the next few months on the same label. The 2 songs contained on this 7″, Prince of Wands and Away, are quite a treat. They are wonderfully crafted pop sings that won’t get him stuck in that singer / songwriter genre that you let your girlfriend be the expert in. For a debut recording I am impressed, the production and recording is excellent and I found myself flipping the disc over a few times before pulling it off the turntable. This 7″ single is limited to 750 copies and comes hand numbered with a beautiful silk screened cover. This is the forth installment of the Social club series. So far my only complaint about the Social Club is the quality of the actual vinyl itself. The records are easily the thinnest I own. Hopefully as subscribers to the series increase the quality of the vinyl will too. You can pick up this 7″ or even better subscribe to the series at the TSR online store.
