Awesome Color is a pretty awesome band. Their self titled debut was first released in June 2006 on Thurston Moore’s label, Ecstatic Peace!. Its 35 minutes of raw, in your face guitar licks, and solid rock n roll drumming. The trio is based in Brooklyn but there is a reason the music sounds more motor city rock then big apple hipster. Lead vocalist and guitarist Derek Stanton grew up in Ann Arbor and just happened to live across the street from Scott Asheton of the Stooges. The album is finally seeing the light of day on a vinyl release thanks to American Dust records. This pressing is on red wax and is being produced as a limited run of 1,000. This has already sold out on the Ecstatic Peace! web store but savvy internet beings have discovered it is also for sale at the American Dust store here. Do your self a favor this new years and make up for mistakes of the past. Go buy Awesome color on some color wax, just don’t play it when your nursing a hangover on Jan 1st. It won’t help.
