2007 Limited Edition Tour Only Records

October 23rd, 2007 · 2 Comments

The fall 2007 touring scene is back with great shows and touring bands. It also seems to be filled with tour only records, some more tour only then others. The recent Arcade Fire and LCD Soundsystem tour included a split 7″ offering up 1 song by each band. This 7″ was on sale at the shows for $5 and was fetching about $50 on eBay. The merch person I spoke with at the 2nd to last show in Columbus said they sold out every night so don’t expect any to hit the bands online stores.

Black Mountain is offering up a 12″ 45rpm Single with 2 brand new tracks called ‘Bastards of Light’ and ‘Thirteen Walls’. This is only available at tour stops and runs $10. It is worth it. Both of these tracks are great and managed to get me really excited about the new release. The interesting this about this release is they give you a coupon to download some additional material on Nov 13th. I love the idea of rewarding fans who come out to shows and pick up records instead of sitting at home and downloading. Black Mountain have a few dates left on the West coast and then its off to Europe to wrap up the tour. The new album, In The Future will be out January 21, 2008 on Jagjaguwar.

Les Savvy Fav have put together a limited edition 7″ for the 2007 Australian tour that contains the tracks Hit By Train and Hit By Car. This 7″ is being released on Rococo Records and can be purchased online if you can’t make it to a show. Insound has copies available for about $7 right here.

Annuals and Manchester Orchestra are touring this fall and have tackled each other’s songs for a special split 7″. This record will only be available at their tour stops. On this record Annuals do Manchester Orchestras “Where Have You Been”, while Manchester Orchestra try their hand at Annuals’ “Brother”. The tour goes from Oct 27 to Nov 19, check the Annuals website for details. You can still pick up the 1,000 copy limited edition 7″ by Annuals that includes ‘Brothers’ and ‘Ease My Mind’ at insound.com here. If your not into that whole covers idea or going to a concert.

San Fransisco punk rockers the Rip Offs have a special one sided limited edition tour 7″ that is available at Squoode records store. The European Tour Single was pressed for the short October tour they played in, yes, Europe. This record is limited to 150 clear copies with a special sleeve and 500 copies on black vinyl. This one sided record still delivers 3 tracks, ‘Fed Up’, ‘Ugly’ and ‘She Said Yeah’.

Punk noise rockers The Blowtops from Buffalo, New York have a limited edition European tour single out now on Certified PR Records. The Euro tour runs from Oct 25th to Nov 3rd. This 2 track 7″ is limited to 200 copies on red wax and 300 on black vinyl. You can purchase a copy of the red vinyl from the Bomp Store here or directly from Certified PR here. It contains the 2 new tracks ‘64 Teeth’ and ‘Megalomonkey’

Of Montreal also has a 2007 tour 7″ available titled Gender Mutiny. This 7″ is limited to 1000 copies and contains the songs ‘Back to School’ (a Royal Trux cover) and a new original track called ‘Subtext Read, Nothing New’. If you missed the tour you can purchase a copy at the polyvinyl store here for $5.
